About Salima Douhou

As a senior policy researcher, Salima addresses key policy challenges related to population ageing, cognitive health and socioeconomic inequalities. Using large-scale cross-national data from the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE), her work informs policies on healthy ageing, education, long-term care, and social protection systems. Salima has also led research projects in major national and European population-based surveys, including the LISS panel, European Social Survey and the SHARE substudy on cognitive ageing (SHARE-HCAP). She is currently involved in the EU-funded Baby Boomer Future project, that examines how rising demand for long-term care will reshape families, labour supply, and economic structures.

Salima is an affiliated research fellow of the Munich Research Institute for the Economics of Ageing and the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy. She has a PhD degree in Economics with an expertise in survey methodology as well as applied econometrics.
